Over winter break, the Boilermaker Men and Women traveled to Allentown, Pennsylvania for two tier one competitions, the Keystone Quaker Classic and the Lehigh Valley Classic. These events spanned from December 27th to December 30th.
The Keystone Quaker Classic took place at the Haja Rose Bowl. The format of the tournament was 5 team games followed by 20 baker games on day 2. The Boiler Men had one of their strongest and most consistent days yet ending the 5 team games with a total of 4992 pins. This performance put the boys in second place and within shooting distance to take the title. The Women had a great day as well finishing the day at 4278 pins, putting them in 8th position.
Day 2 came around and both Boiler teams knew they could make a jump on the leaderboard. Unfortunately for the Men, a lack of spare shooting and communication would lead them to drop four spots to 6th place for the tournament. The women had an opposite result and bowled even better day two! They had a great baker set and put themselves into the 6th position as well!
Individual Performances in the Top 50 Include:
Morgan Roth - 9th - 959
Alexis Cox - 25th - 869
Ryan Gabet - 3rd - 1062
Zach Weidman - 5th - 1042
Zach Dohner - 28th - 987
Brady Colip - 33rd - 975
A 6th place at a Tier 1 is nothing to be ashamed of and is certainly a great feat when looking at the teams that competed at the Keystone Quaker, but the Boiler Men and Women both knew that they were better than where they finished and are not determined to make a better finish for themselves in the Lehigh Valley Classic.
