This past weekend, October 11 and 12, we competed in our first full team tournament at Western Bowl in Indianapolis, Indiana. This was a Tier 2 tourney and it was also the first tournament that we brought all 4 of our teams, (yes I said FOUR) consisting of three Men's teams as well as the return of our Women's team after a 2 year absence! In total, both Varsity and Junior Varsity, there were 44 men's teams as well as 36 women's teams. The format of the tournament was 6 team games on Saturday and 16 baker games on Sunday, total scratch pinfall wins.
On Saturday, the Men's Varsity team shot 5459, which put them in 13th place going into day two. The JV1 team ended up in 31st place after the six games, with a total of 5062. The JV2 team shot 4416, which put them in 40th. The Women's team shot 4550, which put them in 25th position.
Sunday rolled in and we knew that we could improve and finish strong. The Men's Varsity team finished with a score of 8387 and in the 12th position. The JV1 team finished in 31st with a score of 7741 and the JV2 finished in 39th with a score of 6795. The Women's team finished in 24th with a score of 6990.
Individually, we had two men finish in the top 50 of the tournament. Zach Weidman finished in 26th with a score of 1175 while Brady Colip finished in 36th with a score of 1150.
Overall this weekend was a great beginning to the year for the whole team. We're very excited with the amount of talent that we have on the team this year and we're incredibly thankful that we were able to bring back the Women's program to this amazing school!
We will be taking a weekend off and then will be competing in our host tournament, the Boilermaker Classic on October 25-26 at Mike Aulby's Arrowhead Bowl in Lafayette, IN.
